Polymyth Coherence
A reusable instrument for testing whether a work holds together within its own bounds, carries substantive relations across works or traditions, and supports claims beyond its frame.

Qualification sequence
The order is part of the method.
Bind the corpus before interpreting it. Test the released artifact before relations or outside claims. Report later judgments separately.
01
Bound scope
Name the released corpus, version, exclusions, and evidence grade.
02
Deep Internal
Test the artifact’s own commitments, organization, and contradictions.
03
Substantive Mezo
Record evidenced relations, permitted transformations, and load-bearing differences.
04
Supported External
Test at least one substantive claim that reaches beyond the work’s frame.
05
Separate outputs
Only then report salience and truth-direction without turning them into repairs.
Gate rule: a work does not qualify as fully Polymyth-coherent unless Internal, Mezo, and External each pass at Deep audit depth.
Three layers
One instrument, three distinct tests.
Layer 1
Internal
The bounded released artifact must be contradiction-free and substantively organized on its own terms. Peripheral and production evidence may count when it bears on the work.
An unresolved Internal failure blocks qualification. Neither reception nor outside truth can repair it.
Layer 2
Mezo
At least one substantive relation must be evidenced and typed. The relation records what is inherited, what may be transformed, and which differences carry structural weight.
Resemblance alone is not enough. The relation must do explanatory work.
Layer 3
External
At least one substantive claim outside the work’s frame must be identified and supported. A work need not be realist to make an External claim.
An unsupported outside claim cannot borrow strength from Internal elegance or Mezo reach.
The method and its applications have different jobs. Keeping them separate prevents one convenient verdict from rewriting the test.
Canonical instrument
This star file owns the complete Internal, Mezo, and External method, evidence rules, audit gates, ledgers, red-team checks, regression tests, and workbook.
Application files
Individual media audits remain separate application files and cannot alter the instrument. Films, books, games, traditions, and other cases keep their own findings and evidence.
Post-coherence outputs: salience and truth-direction remain separate judgments. They do not repair a failed layer and do not become a substitute coherence score.
Canonical workbook
Run the complete audit.
The workbook carries the operational rulebook, case ledgers, source map, coverage checks, repair log, red-team QA, and regression evidence.
ML* routes here; it does not duplicate the instrument.
Methodologylist* keeps the compact trigger, routing rule, and cross-references. This dedicated star file keeps the complete method and canonical workbook.
