Sabachtan Gnosticism Seminar.
A reading-and-discussion seminar on the cry from the cross, the gnostic tradition, and what those texts ask of the reader who arrives at them honestly.
Why these two together.
The cry from the cross (sabachthani, "why have you forsaken me") and the gnostic tradition both refuse the easy synthesis. Both texts ask the reader to sit with abandonment as a structural feature of the inheritance, not as a problem to be solved. The seminar reads them as adjacent rather than identical, looking for what each tradition keeps that the other lets go of.†
