bookwormburrows

make a burrowing character, give the wormcard to the Dimensional Master, and play an academic TTRPG where assignments become quests.

the idea

bookwormburrows treats every book, poem, paragraph, speech, image, film, song, game, or document as a world you can step into. You read, notice details, make choices, complete assignments as quests, and grow into a character with a clearer voice. In ordinary use, the teacher and AI form the Dimensional Master, the teacher remains the human voice, and the wormcard becomes the persistent character record.

the full teacher rule file for the priority AI-assisted workflow, manual fallback, character translation, text-worlds, quests, and campaign continuity lives in the bb* operations file. The public student path stays here.

what this is for

bookwormburrows gives each participant a clear job. The player builds a burrowing character and acts inside the text-world. The AI translates the character, prepares the world, writes the story, and tracks technical continuity. The teacher mediates the seminar, speaks to the players, protects the source, and decides what reaches the table.

The teacher and AI together are the Dimensional Master. The AI handles the hidden technical and generative work. The teacher remains the voice at the table, keeps the exegesis sealed, and mediates every response. A manual paper or document version remains available.

This is why bookwormburrows works as a game. You learn by choosing, reading, writing, revising, and seeing consequences. The game is a sparring partner for better thinking, not a shortcut around reading.

how BB is played

The game is playable now. Choose a text, make a wormcard, and give the card to the Dimensional Master.

  1. Choose the anchor text. A book, poem, story, article, scene, speech, myth, play, or document becomes the dimension.
  2. Make a wormcard. Build the burrowing character you will bring into that text-world.
  3. Give the wormcard to the Dimensional Master. The AI creates the in-game version for the chosen world, and the teacher mediates and refines it.
  4. Open the burrow. The text’s core meaning stays sealed while the surrounding world becomes playable.
  5. Take quests. Assignments become reasons to read, write, research, speak, map, revise, and return.
  6. Let work quality matter. There are no dice. Careful reading and stronger work create stronger consequences.
  7. Keep the teacher as the filter. The teacher keeps the record, judges consequences, and decides what players hear.
  8. Carry the record forward. The wormcard grows through writing, scars, items, discoveries, and open quests.
// teacher manual workflow

AI-assisted BB is the priority workflow. The teacher uses the anchor text, saved wormcards, the BB rule file, an AI tool, and CC* campaign records. The same game can also run manually with paper notes or a document.

// for young readers

bookwormburrows is built for guided play. Younger players should play with a teacher, parent, guardian, tutor, or other trusted Dimensional Master. Adult groups can use the same structure, while the human filter stays active so the game stays careful and alive.
