i. The approach

One question can strengthen several subjects 一箭雙鵰

History, English, Philosophy, Media Literacy, and Social Studies meet in the same habits of inquiry. One course can build close reading, source analysis, writing, argument, and judgment.

The lesson begins with the work that matters now and leaves the student better prepared for the next text, assignment, exam, or question.

ii. The five subjects

Five subjects that speak to one another 五科

Each subject has its own material and method. Together they teach students to read a text, test a claim, understand an institution, and write with force.

iii. Choose a focus

Choose the work in front of you

Choose the course, skill, or project that needs attention. Your selection carries into the intake form.

iv. Session rhythm

Work with enough time to think

Most sessions run online through Google Meet. Ninety minutes gives the work enough room for reading, discussion, practice, and a clear next step.

Private sessions
One student and one teacher. The full session follows that student's work. New students begin here.
Seminar sessions
A small group works through the same text with one teacher. The rate is less than half the private rate. Entry follows 20 to 40 private sessions, based on readiness.
v. Begin with a plan

Choose a way to begin

vi. The teacher

A teacher who stays in the work

Saul Nassau teaches all five subjects. Other Leizu teachers join a small network after learning the seminar method and take a limited number of students each term.

Leizu teachers keep studying, reading, and writing. The work asks for teachers who remain inside the questions they teach.

vii. Before you begin

Questions parents actually ask

How do sessions work?
Sessions run about 90 minutes with two focused periods and a short break. Google Meet and the calendar invitation arrive after booking.
In-person or only online?
Online is the default. Ongoing students in Toronto can arrange in person sessions after the first few meetings when the format suits both sides.
What ages do you teach?
Most students are in high school or university. Adults with independent projects also study here. The work adjusts to the student while the standard holds.
Do parents book for their kids, or do students book themselves?
Parents usually book for younger students. Older students often book themselves while parents pay separately. Stripe sends confirmation to the email used for booking.
What if I'm not sure which course is right for me?
Email saulnassau@protonmail.com to arrange a free 20 minute intake call. We will identify the work that fits before you enrol.
Can I switch courses partway through?
Yes. The curriculum is one body of work. A student can move from Philosophy to History when the work calls for it.
What if I have to miss a session?
Read the current cancellation and rescheduling policy before payment.
What payment methods do you take?
Major credit and debit cards are accepted through Stripe. Receipts arrive by email.
Are these courses for credit?
Some are aligned with the Ontario OSSD curriculum and IB Diploma syllabi. The OSSD-aligned courses can support school-credit work but do not grant credits independently. Your school of record does that. The seminar-format and standalone courses are for the work itself, not credit.
Do you teach ESL students?
Yes. ESL is one of the registers I work in. Teaching is in English at all levels, including IELTS and TOEFL prep. Communication with families is also available in Mandarin, French, or Farsi if needed.
What's the difference between one-on-one and seminar courses?
Private sessions follow one student’s work. Seminar sessions bring a small group through shared material after enough individual study has built a common foundation.
What if I can't afford the tuition?
Apply to Leizu Scholars. The program waives tuition for students who can't currently afford it. Same standard, same work, no payment until you're financially able later in life.
How do I reach you with a question?
Text or call 416-771-0382, or email through the form below. Texting is the fastest path.
viii. Access

Serious study should remain within reach 嫘祖學者

Tuition places this work beyond reach for some students. Leizu Scholars offers need based tuition waivers. The standard and work remain the same. Payment waits until the student is financially able.

If you'd like to apply, write a letter explaining your situation and what you want to study. If you'd like to support a scholar, the Mulberry Fund accepts donations directly.
